Raised in Victoria, Bill Lewis has worked his way through the hotel business while earning his Bachelor of Commerce, with distinction, in Entrepreneurial Management from Royal Roads University in 2001 and his MBA in Hotel & Tourism Management at the University of Guelph in 2006, completing his major research in the area of Generational Differences in Canadian Hospitality. Bill has a diverse background in business with over 20 years experience in the hospitality industry. Bill’s career began with various roles in food & beverage service, before moving in to Front Office related roles.
Bill’s management career started with roles in accounting and front office, growing to Director of Operations, and currently a General Manager for over 7 years. Bill’s experience as a General Manager has involved a wide variety of properties, ownership structures, and business situations. General Manager of The Magnolia Hotel & Spa, Victoria’s Luxury Spa Boutique Hotel. The Magnolia Hotel & Spa is a 64-room Boutique hotel, managed by Atlific Hotel & Resorts, and has been awarded “Top 10 Luxury Hotels in Canada” by Trip Advisor under Bill’s leadership.
Bill is known to bring his always upbeat and relaxed leadership style to each and every role he has taken on. He has seen success in every hotel at increasing market share within each market through his strong background in Revenue Management and strategic approach to marketing and electronic distribution.
Bill is married to his wife of 10 years Jennifer, and they have two young children Owen and Ava who keep life busy. He is also an Active Runner often seen leading some of his hotel team for a morning run before work. Within the community, Bill is a Director and Executive Secretary of the SKAL Club of Victoria, sits on the Board for the Victoria Hospitality Award Committee on behalf of the Hotel Association of Greater Victoria, and is a proud RRU alumni.
